Description Photograph of the Louis Bell & Joseph Higgins store in Laytonsville, circa 1900. Bell and Higgins were brothers-in-law, and they opened this general store in 1885. In addition to the usual store items, Higgins & Bell carried a range of hardware items and paint. It also served for some years as a post office.

The store was razed, and the location is now the parking lot of the Town Hall.
