Description
Joseph Higgins House, 21606 Laytonsville Road Also known as the Maude Bell Riggs House Built 1892 This is the newest of the four houses in Laytonsville associated with the Bell family. William D. Bell's daughter Annie married Joseph Higgins. They lived in the tenant house for several years until they built this home on the west side of Rt. 108. This is a large Victorian home with some unusual architectural features, most probably the result of imaginative problem solving by the builder. This photo shows the home early in the stages of restoration, with the landscaping cleared away, and so reveals the architecture fairly well.
